Apple TV app sign-in fails after OS upgrade, Apple One

I am using a macbook air with OS 15.7.7. I have a subscription with Apple One which active and will renew July 20th. With Apple One, I have been using the Apple TV app to watch movies and that has worked fine.

I recently upgraded from OS 15.100.1 to OS 15.7.7 and ever since then, although I can sign into my Apple One account and see it is still active, I cannot sign into Apple TV app. It keeps telling me to try a free trial and asks me to sign in. I do that, the sign in process seems to work, but my account name does not appear in the lower left corner of the window and I cannot access Apple TV.

Any idea what is going wrong and how to fix it?
