How to add a child to a new Apple Account for Family Sharing when the previous account is disabled?

The account for Family Sharing associated with my child's iPhone has been disabled. I can no longer log in to remove her from Family Sharing. How do I add my child to a new Apple account for family sharing?

Contacted support and they pretty much told me to make a new account for both me and my child.


The linked article mentions this.


If the locked account is a child account, you will need to have Apple Support remove that, and — as indicated in the linked article — will need to create and then add a new child account to the group.


Assuming Apple doesn’t decide to lock out other accounts, as nobody here has any insight into what happened.
