How do I resolve App Store login and account details issue on Mac?

Having problems downloading/signing in to the appstore.

I have copiers of FCPX & Motion for example and sign in with the right details and I get this.

I've this with a few apps recently on both my main machines (MBP & MacMini)

I've tried to logout of both machines on the account and it still doesn't reset. What keeps happening is that when I try and log out and log back in it seems to default to my iPhone & iPad appstore details.

An app is forever tied to the Apple Account used to acquire it (paid or free). The Apple Account is encoded into the licensed copy that is downloaded. It is in the copy's DNA. That is the only Apple Account that can redownload or update the app..

The only workaround is to delete the app and use the Apple Account you prefer to download it. That means buying it again if it is a paid app.

Totally understand that been an Apple customer for many many years.

The problem is that when I select download/update the Mac Appstore is populating the account with my iOS details. THEN when I try and input my Mac Appstore details it says that (in the example I gave above) FCPX isn't connected to the Mac Appstore account. Well it is because the full version of FCPX isn't an iOS app.

Thats the problem.

Still having problems with this. My main Mac is linked to the right account so in effect I can and have updated FCPX for example. Ironically I have a newer version of FCPX on my MBP BUT now still can't update it because it says it was purchased from another account.

I have only ever purchased ONE FCPX licence and it was working and been able to be downloaded on both machines but since OS updates on the MBP the appstore account has gone a bit weird.

I have logged out of both machines and tried again to login again on both. Mac Mini lets me (15.7.9) and MBP doesn't (26.6)

I have a feeling that because the OS's aren't the same that could be affecting it in some way. The reason that the OS's aren't the same is that the Mac Mini is a production Mac and I always keep an OS behind because its stable. I update the MBP to test and use new software features etc.
