iPad Air 5th Gen: Apple ID password fails, device missing

I have several iPads, iMacs & iPhones which I am now factory resetting due to school closure. One iPad, an iPad Air 5th Gen (2023), running iPadOS 26.5.2 that is signed in to my school AppleID (as are/were the others) but if fails password verification whenever I enter the password (which I have now changed 5 times). Also the device does not appear on my Devices list on either my Cloud logon or any of my other iPads. Continued and failing sign-in attempts result in account lockout until I reset it via my management iPad. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Your description, in particular your reference to factory reset subsequent to closure of your school, strongly suggests that the devices are centrally managed/supervised.

If a management profile is present - and that the device is still centrally managed by an Enterprise or Educational establishment - a reset will rarely remove the restrictive management profile. Devices that are supervised/configuration locked by an MDM platform can usually only be released from central management by the platform that manages the device. Be aware that Apple will not assist with removal of management profiles.

Unless you are lucky - and have the option to delete the profile from iPad Settings - you’ll need to seek assistance directly from the System Administrator who manages the device.
