MacBook Pro M5 battery takes 8+ hours to charge

I purchased a 16-inch MacBook Pro M5 chip laptop less than a month ago. I use the battery during the day until it goes below 25% and then put it on the charger. But it's been taking 8+ hours to fully charge. Is this normal? Last night, I put it on the charger at about 1am -- and at 8am this morning, it's still not fully charged.

The Mac learns your usage habits and tries to optimize charging to improve battery live and to have the battery ready for when you use it. For example if you usually turn it on around breakfast time then when you put it on charge overnight it won't start to charge to full capacity straight away. Instead, it will start charging a couple of hours before you actually need to use it.

You can tell when it's doing this. If you click on the battery symbol in control centre in the Menu Bar then it might have a message saying that the battery is not charging yet but will be charged to 100% in xx hours and give you the option to start charging to full power immediately.

I'm just using the charger that came with the MacBook Pro M5 Chip.

IF using a USB-C cable:

¿Are you using a USB-C cable rated for at least 100 Watts charging?

the default charging ability of 'regular' USB-C cables is only 60 watts, which may be generally slow.

Some Premium USB-C cables are rated at 100 Watts charging.

Super Premium cables may provide up to 240 Watts for fast charging.

Thank you for letting me know. I appreciate it.
This is a really annoying feature that I wish I could turn off.
But it's good to know that it isn't a problem with my laptop since I've owned it for less than a month. I didn't notice an option to "start charging to full power immediately." I'll look for that option next time.
Thanks again.

You can leave your computer plugged in whenever convenient to do so. You do not have to wait until the battery drains to 25% before plugging it in. Let the MacOS manage the power/charging system. Plug in the computer and forget about it. Leaving the computer plugged in will not damage the computer or the battery.
