AppleCare+ for South African iPad with UK Apple ID?

my iPad was recently purchased in South Africa through Amazon SA. My Apple ID is associated with the UK. If I purchase AppleCare+ from my UK ID for this specific device will it cover its use in South Africa.

To clarify, AppleCare+ coverage is only available within the country within which the AppleCare+ plan it is purchased.

For avoidance of doubt, if you purchase an AppleCare+ plan in the UK, it will not be honoured in South Africa - or vice versa.

You would be well advised to purchase the iPad and AppleCare+ plan in the country within which you intend to spend most of your time. If you regularly visit the UK - and (a) anticipate needing to make a claim against the AppleCare+ plan, and (b) are prepared to wait until your next UK visit - your might choose to purchase in the UK where there may be better access to Apple Stores and Apple Authorised Service Providers (AASPs).

AppleCare+ must be purchased within 60-days of initial purchase/device activation. Eligibility to purchase can be established from iPad Settings. You should see the AppleCare option visible in iPad settings - this usually appearing just below your Name / AppleID.

If not seen, you may see the option to purchase AppleCare here:

Settings > General > About > Coverage

You can also purchase AppleCare for your iPad directly from Apple’s website:

AppleCare+ coverage is only available within the country within which it is purchased.

Generally, you should aim to purchase a device in the country within which you intend to spend most time - as this significantly simplifies the warranty position (and Applecare+) should you ever need to call upon it.
