Hello Donot_Haveone, and welcome to the Apple Support Community.
The existing replies correctly recommend updating macOS and contacting Apple Support if the issue persists. One additional troubleshooting step you could try is to determine whether the issue is limited to Finder’s automatic mounting or whether the storage device is actually being detected by macOS.
After connecting the card reader, open Disk Utility and choose View > Show All Devices. If the SD card appears there but isn’t mounted, select it and click Mount. If it doesn’t appear in Disk Utility but is visible in System Information > USB, the issue may be related to the card reader, its firmware, or how the USB device resumes after sleep rather than the SD card itself.
You could also test whether preventing the Mac from sleeping before connecting the reader avoids the issue consistently, as that would help narrow the problem to sleep/wake USB reinitialization.

If you discover whether the card reader appears in Disk Utility or System Information immediately after waking the Mac, please post back with the results.
That information may help identify whether this is a mounting issue or a USB detection issue and could also help other members of the Apple Support Community.
