iPad Pro 11-inch (M5) keyboard is intermittently missing

I have an iPad Pro 11 in (M5) where I continue to experience the keyboard failing to appear when I want to type information while using an app. Particulalry when I use MS One Note, and other apps like Ultimate Guitar. I'm sure it's happened with other apps but can't recall which ones.

What can I do to resolve this issue. It seems to be intermittent. For instance earlier while trying to type using One Note, no keyboard. Now it appears when I checked to see if it was still missing, it shows up.

I've tried killing the app and restarting my iPad but nothing changres.

Looking to find a solution. this didn't happen auntil a few months ago.

Hey HI - this usually means the iPad is getting confused by the app or a connected keyboard. Try this in order:

  • Update iPadOS and the apps, especially OneNote.
  • Disconnect any external keyboard or Magic Keyboard, then reconnect it.
  • Clean the Smart Connector on the iPad and keyboard if you use one.
  • In Settings > General > Keyboard, make sure the on-screen keyboard is not being blocked by a hardware keyboard.
  • In the problem app, force close it and reopen it.
  • If it keeps happening, go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPad > Reset > Reset All Settings. This does not erase your data.
  • If only OneNote is affected, delete and reinstall OneNote.

I think I may have found what is messing up my keyboard settings. Seems like these Bluetooth page turning units I’m trying out are disabling my keyboard. Then if I go to an app like MS Word, I can turn it back on there and I can use it in other apps…

Until I use the page turner again.

oh well….

Thanks so much for you suggestions. I've tried all but the "Reset All Settings" option and so far it hasn't resolved the issue. And now I find it happening in specific apps like Facebook, Messenger, Messages (texting), What's App. But not with Email or MS Word.

I'll try resetting when I have a chance and if that doesn't work, I may end up doing a factory reset and restore as I go.

Kind of disappointed that this could happen with an Apple product.
