Can an iPhone or MacBook be remotely screen-shared without my knowledge?

is it at all possible for an iphone or macbook to essentially be screen-shared elsewhere without one’s knowledge?

No, not normally. An iPhone or MacBook cannot be screen-shared in the background without your knowledge unless screen sharing, remote control, or a remote-access app was already enabled or approved by you.

On iPhone: screen sharing only works when you start it or accept a request.

On Mac: remote access only works if Screen Sharing or Remote Management is turned on, and someone has permission to connect.
