Apple Pencil Pro haptics stopped after iPadOS update

After updating my iPad Pro M5 11 inch to iPadOS 26.5.2, the double tap haptic feedback of my Apple Pencil Pro stopped working. the double tap works, but without any vibration. Im sure it's a software issue since it was working fine just before the update.

There have been many reports of loss of Apple Pencil Pro haptics subsequent to the iPadOS 26.5.2 update - and as such it is reasonable to conclude that the update introduced a bug that will need to be resolved, by Apple, in a future OS update. Reports also indicate that a full factory restore will not clear the problem.

You and others that encounter this issue need to submit a Bug Report to Apple via its Product Feedback portal:

Feedback - Apple

When submitting your Bug Report, please ensure that you include details of your iPad model and installed version of iPadOS within the body-text of your report along with details of the problem.  Do not rely upon the pick-list alone - as this rarely includes the current version of iPadOS.

Every Bug Report counts.  Unless reports are submitted (with adequate detail), Apple may not assign resources to investigate and correct the issue.

In addition [i.e., not as a substitute] to submitting a Bug Report, you might also consider seeking assistance directly from Apple Support.  You can contact the Support Team using the Support link at top-right or bottom-left of this page; you can initiate and manage your support cases from Apple devices using the excellent Apple Support App.  If not already installed, the App can be downloaded from the App Store:

Hello arvinsalehian, welcome to the Apple Support Community!

To reactivate the vibrations of your stylus, go to Settings on your iPad, tap Apple Pencil, and make sure that the Haptic (or Haptic Feedback) option is checked and activated. If this is already the case, disconnect the stylus by going to Settings > Bluetooth, touch the small "i" next to the Apple Pencil Pro and choose Forget this device. Then magnetically attach the stylus to the side of your iPad again to pair it from scratch: this will properly restart the software driver and reactivate the haptic feedback. Tell us again :)

Since the simple pairing was not enough, you can try two other less radical manipulations than a factory reset. First, force the iPad to restart (press and release the volume up button, then volume down, and hold down the power button until the Apple logo) to completely empty the system cache. If this does not change anything, go to Settings > General > Transfer or reset the iPad > Reset and choose only Reset all settings: this will reset your preferences (Wi-Fi, wallpaper, haptic) without deleting any personal data or application, which is often enough to fix bugs related to updates.

Hi batorousseauevan!

Thank you for your attention!

I went through all the steps you mentioned, but nothing has changed. I searched the internet and saw that some other users had the same issue, but after updating their iPad Pro to a different version of iPadOS. One of them said that factory resetting the iPad solved the problem.

Right now, though, I don’t wanna factory reset my iPad. I’d like to see if there are any other possible solutions first.

And I’ve already submitted a report to Apple to let them know about this bug.
