Safari/Mac incompatible with telehealth service

I am a therapist using a platform called SimplePractice to do all tasks, including virtual appointments. I recently started being unable to connect to the telehealth portion. The support team of SimplePractice told me the following. I am wondering if Apple has a fix?

What you're describing, the ability to use SimplePractice and use other features but seeing a lost connectionmessage specifically when trying to start a Telehealth session in Safari, is consistent with a known compatibility concern we're currently seeing.

Mac devices running macOS Sonoma 14 or macOS Sequoia 15 that have recently updated Safari to version 26.x are experiencing incompatibility with Telehealth. This explains why everything else in SimplePractice works fine, and why your internet connection appears strong. The issue is specific to Safari 26.x on those older macOS versions rather than anything wrong with your device or your network.

To clarify the combinations:

  • macOS Tahoe 26 with Safari 26.x: Compatible with Telehealth
  • macOS Sonoma 14 or Sequoia 15 with Safari 26.x: Not compatible with Telehealth
  • macOS Sonoma 14 or Sequoia 15 with an older version of Safari: Compatible with Telehealth

Our team will not be implementing a fix on our end, as the incompatibility stems from Apple's Safari 26.x update behavior on those older macOS versions.

Hello JFrary, welcome to the Apple Support Community!

For your professional activity, it is essential to have an immediate solution. Since SimplePractice has confirmed that no fix will be deployed on their side in the short term, the simplest, most human and fastest solution to ensure your telehealth appointments is to temporarily use another internet browser (such as Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox) only for your virtual sessions. This will bypass the Safari crash without disrupting the rest of your Mac. Have a nice day :)

This is a user-to-user forum. Apple largely is not here except to moderate it.

If you believe that there are bugs in the latest version of Safari, when running under Sonoma or Sequoia, perhaps you should submit a bug report on Apple's Feedback page or using the "Report a Website" feature (see details in Support article).
