Hello BobNeiman, and welcome to the Apple Support Community.
If an app disappears from your Home Screen, it usually hasn’t been deleted. In most cases, it has either been removed from the Home Screen, hidden, or moved to the App Library.
Apple does not currently offer an option to lock the Home Screen layout to prevent accidental changes.
Here are a few things you can check:
- Swipe to the App Library and search for the missing app. If you find it, touch and hold the app, then tap Add to Home Screen.
- Check whether the app has been hidden. You can review your hidden apps in Settings > Apps > Hidden Apps (if applicable on your version of iOS).
- If multiple apps or entire pages seem to be missing, verify that no Home Screen pages have been hidden by entering jiggle mode and tapping the page indicator dots.
- If this happens repeatedly without any action on your part, and especially if it began after updating to iOS 26, it could indicate a software issue. In that case, make sure your iPhone is updated to the latest iOS release.
