Tried to load PowerPoint on my iMac 14,2 (27-inch, Late 2013). PowerPoint installer wants a macOS of 14 (Sonoma) or higher. I have 10.15.8 (Catalina) installed. My hardware is Quad-Core Intel Core i5. Can I load an OS of 14 or higher onto my iMAC? or should a load an app (does this exist???) that can process PowerPoint files?

Catalina is the latest version your iMac can run. I don't use PowerPoint so I don't know what apps if any can work with its files.
Have you considered using www.icloud.com Apple's Keynote
Apple Keynote in iCloud can open and format Microsoft PowerPoint files (.pptx).
You can upload a PowerPoint file to iCloud.com, edit its text and layout using the web app, and then download it again as either a PowerPoint presentation or a PDF
Not as convenient as having the application install on the computer but still doable
The current version of LibreOffice is not compatible with your iMac, as it requires Big Sur or higher. It appears that LibreOffice 25.8.7.3 (a now unsupported, archived version) is the most up-to-date version for Catalina.
