Time Machine: Can't save Excel, no restore option (Catalina

I need to restore some Excel files from Time Machine .

If I load one and try to save it , it says I don't have authority to save the file .

I've given Full File Access to Excel , without effect

I thing there should be a restore option showing in Time Machine , but its not there .

Where am I going wrong ?

Im on MacOs Catalina

iMac 21.5″, macOS 10.15

This is Apple's guidance for recovering files and folders from a Time Machine backup.

Restore items backed up with Time Machine on Mac - Apple Support

• Start with the external TM backup drive connected to your Mac.

• Then open a Finder window and navigate to the folder where the backed up filed would have been kept on your startup drive.

• Now launch the Time Machine application and use the timeline navigation tools to locate the file's backup on the external drive. When you select the file in the timeline, the Restore button will become enabled and you can click it to recover your file(s).
