The message that says "it will be automatically removed after 30 minutes" is referring to the Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) trusted phone number. Here's what happens:

What the "30 minutes" message means:

When you remove a phone number from your Apple ID, Apple gives a 30-minute grace period during which that number can still receive 2FA verification codes. This is a security measure to prevent accidental lockout. After 30 minutes, the number is fully removed.

What happens after you remove the only phone number:

- Your removed number will no longer receive Apple ID verification codes or 2FA texts

- You will need at least one other trusted device OR phone number to receive 2FA codes in the future

- If you remove your only number and have no other trusted devices, you could lose access to your Apple ID if you ever need to verify your identity

Regarding your eSIM:

- Removing a phone number from Apple ID does NOT affect your eSIM or cellular service

- The phone number on your eSIM is your carrier number — it will still work for calls and texts

- The two are separate: one is your Apple ID trusted number, the other is your cellular number

Important recommendation:

Before removing your only trusted phone number:

1. Make sure you have at least one trusted device (an iPhone, iPad, or Mac) already signed in to the same Apple ID

2. Or add another phone number as a trusted number first

3. This ensures you won't get locked out of your Apple ID
