I’m using iOS 18.7.8 because I’m refusing to update it due to the Photos app. I appreciate the ability to hide unused photo albums and maintain a minimal appearance. Is there any plan from Apple to restore the functionality to hide albums, media types, and utilities that we don’t want or use? The items that aren’t checked have no purpose for me and only create unnecessary clutter.

In iOS26 you can also pin the collections you want to use and remove the collections you do not want to see from the pinned collections, just like in iOS18: Browse your photo collections on iPhone - Apple Support
Apple announced that iOS 27 will bring some great long awaited features to Photos iOS, that have been requested for a long time, for example star ratings to organize the photos better. You may want to postpone your updates until iOS 27 will be available and then decide again about updating.
