my iPad Pro has stopped being able to load photos in 3rd party apps like Canva. It opens photo app for brief sec then closes it and says can’t load try again. I’ve rebooted. Updated iOS. Reset. Verified all settings. Nothing. Photo app opens on its own. I can save photos to file directory and import that long way no problem.

I did a Reset Location & Privacy and nothing. Last night tried a Reset All Settings and bingo it works again. Thank you so much for your help.
oh okay. That narrows it down. Since this happens in every third-party app and started before you updated, it’s likely not any one app.
When you said you “reset” the iPad, what kind of reset did you do—restart, Reset All Settings, Reset Location & Privacy, or a full erase and restore?
Also, can you try opening a photo normally in Photos, tapping Share, and sending it directly to one of the affected third-party apps from the Share Sheet? I’m curious whether that route works, or whether the handoff fails there too.
Does this happen in every third-party app that tries to open your photo library, or only Canva?
Also, under Settings > Privacy & Security > Photos, what access level is shown for Canva and the other affected apps?
Also maybe try offloading the apps, make sure they are all updated as well.
And what exact iPadOS version are you running?
Yes every 3rd party apps. Full access to the apps I use and have been trying. I did off load them. I’m running 26. The most recent. But it started in 25. I just updated hoping that would fix it. And it only started this afternoon. This morning it was fine. I didn’t change a thing. So weird.
