This is a known issue on iOS 26 where the in-call keypad (DTMF tones) doesn't register properly during IVR (Interactive Voice Response) calls. Here are the fixes:
1. Switch the call audio route — During the call, tap the audio button (speaker icon) on the call screen and make sure it's set to "iPhone" (not Speaker, Bluetooth, or earpiece). Some users find the keypad works correctly when audio is routed through the iPhone speaker rather than earpiece.
2. Check your dial mode — iOS supports both "Tone" and "Pulse" dialing. Go to Settings > Phone and look for "Dial Assist" or "DTMF Tones" — make sure tones are enabled. On some carrier setups, pulse dialing can prevent IVR systems from recognizing keypad inputs.
3. Tap the keypad icon during the call — On the in-call screen, tap "Keypad" (the grid icon) to bring up the numeric keypad. Sometimes it doesn't appear by default and the user has to manually open it mid-call.
4. Disable Silence Unknown Callers — Go to Settings > Phone > Silence Unknown Callers and make sure it's off. In rare cases this interferes with call audio routing.
5. Reset Network Settings — Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This resets cellular and VoIP settings that affect call audio routing, which can fix DTMF issues.
6. If the issue only happens with specific numbers (bank hotlines, etc.) — try calling from a different network (Wi-Fi Calling on/off) as some IVR systems have trouble with VoIP-routed calls.
