Trying to send sms/rcs msg to android from ipad 2 air, ios26.5 via iphone 17, ios26.5.1. Works for all android contacts except 1. Error says msg not sent. Can send successfully to that one contact from iphone and msg appears in the ipad thread. Help!

If it is just one it is most likely a problem on their end.
Perhaps a long shot:
Do you have a 3rd party VPN installed, even if you are not using it? If so, delete the VPN profile in Settings/General/VPN & Device Management/VPN, then restart your device. Don't just turn it off; delete the profile. Updates sometimes "break" VPN, and it needs to be removed. If that fixes it, you can try reinstalling VPN, but probably shouldn't.
I think it’s much more likely on the other end, not your iPhone. Your contact should make sure they have RCS enabled, and if it is, they should contact their carrier.
Apparently your iPhone or iPad might have a corrupted message file such as a attachment or image or a misconfiguration of the phone number i suggest double checking the number and the messages to see if theirs anything android is blocking. Really hope this helps.
Thanks, i had high hopes for this, and i do have a vpn installed. I deleted the app, and all the data, but no joy.
I thought something like that might be, so i deleted the entire message thread AND the contact info. I then tried a message to the number, again no joy
