iPad Safari keyboard space bar has an unwanted .co.uk button

ipad issue regarding space bar - since loading an update about 6 months ago, the safari keyboard has introduced a ‘.co.uk’ button as part of the space bar. I ALWAYS space with my right thumb and FREQUENTLY type a load of garbage as each time the space bar is pressed, I get .co.uk - until I remember. I have asked the question before of how to get rid of that button and return to how the space bar used to be and I am instructed to load the ‘English’ keyboard. Doesn’t work - I already use the English keyboard. Help.
