What is the best application as a video player for Mac?

There really isn't a single “best” Mac media player. I suggest you try out all of the ones listed below, and you'll figure out which one works best for you.
For Me recently, VLC Media Player is still the best overall choice on Mac.
I’d use IINA for daily watching and keep VLC installed as a backup for any weird formats that don’t play.

You have to do this for each type of file - e.g. mp4, m4v, iso, .... , etc.

The built-in macOS video player works quite well, VLC deals well with many options and formats, and Plex, Jellyfin, and such can work well for other definitions of “best”.

I'm not sure what you mean by that last comment but if you want to watch YouTube ad-free I consider the Brave web browser to be the way to go.
Since first using it a few years ago I have not seen a single ad except when I inadvertently open YouTube in Safari.
Which browser is best in your opinion?

Yes. just delete /Applications/Brave Browser.app.
...if you are really OCD, also delete '~/Library/Application Support/BraveSoftware' to gain minimal amount of disk space...
...but don't delete '~/Music/Music/Media/Music/Cream/Disraeli Gears/06 Tales Of Brave Ulysses.m4a' or something like that :-)

Neither. Each has its merits which is why I have both.
Yes. Very easy but you won't need to uninstall it as it is not dangerous like Chrome on which it is based.
