Third-party apps need sign-in after iPhone Quick Start

My wife and I have used Apple products for over 20 years, starting with a shared Power Mac G4 computer and gradually expanding over time to individual computers, iPhones, iPads and Apple watches. We generally don't upgrade any of the devices until they are nearing the end of Apple support or they become so slow as to be almost unusable. We recently replaced iPhone 13 minis with iPhone 17es. We used Quick Start to set up the new phones. Even though we got the set up complete messages and we are now using them, we find that most of the non-Apple apps we use (all from the Apple App Store) are requiring us to sign in again. Some apps recognize the Password app suggested passwords, but others do not. Is this normal? How do I solve the problem with these apps? I have not wiped our old phones yet and they still allow us to use those problem apps, but there does not seem to be an "easy" way to get our old passwords off them. Thanks.

Yes, it isn’t typical, but not unheard of, for you to need to sign back in on some apps after changing devices. The Apple password app should be available to you on the 13 minis, assuming you had kept iOS up to date on them, and should been transferred over with the quick start process via iCloud sync.

It's not unusual for many 3rd party apps to required signing in on a new device. Not unusual at all. If you were saving passwords to the Passwords app, the app would have transferred to the new phone and you should be able to see them in the app. But passwords on 3rd party apps don't automatically sync or get saved with the Passwords app.

This is why I have a metal notebook with passwords written down in it for needs such as this.
