That notification is a scam. You don't have a McAfee virus on your Mac.

You've allowed a website to send notifications in Safari. You need to disallow that.

It is very difficult to determine that a Mac has malware when you have full internal access.

The idea that someone you did not even ask to look, from completely outside your computer, has correctly determined that you have malware is ridiculous.

They ARE Lying to you, and Yes, it is a SCAM.

ANY antivirus apps on macOS are neither needed nor recommended. they are well known to cause MAJOR issues within macOS while providing ZERO protection or benefit. you would do well to uninstall BitDefender using the developer's instructions.
