iMac Apple Mail connection to Gmail timed out

I am using macOS Tahoe on my iMac and my apple mail is not linking to my gmail account. I get the error message [Connections to the server "imap.gmail.com" on the default ports timed out.] I had the same issue in my iPhone yesterday but it seems to have resolved itself today.

iMac 27″, macOS 26.5

Are you using any anti-virus, firewall, security software, VPNs, proxys, or custom DNS providers? If so, one of those is the likely cause.

If not, the best solution is to: remove the mail account, reroot the Mac, add the account back (Add and manage email accounts in Mail on Mac - Apple Support).
