Running on a Macbook Pro so old that the newest opsys is Catalina but upgrading to a new machine soon. The screen is a Phillips TV. Previously I have used the computer screen and a Multisync 70GX2 side by side.
Right now with only the Phillips TV I can only load the dock on left, bottom or right. I have up to now always had it at the top of the screen. What do I have to do to get it there now?

This sounds like a common problem when using a TV as a display. Typically it's address by something in the TV's menu settings. Check for options related to 'overscan' or 'picture placement'. Philips have made many, many televisions over many years, so it's impossible to be more specific about your specific model.

There has never been an option to have the dock at the top of the screen, under any version of MacOS that I can recall.
I guess it's possible there's some third-party tool or extension that enables this, although I'm not aware of what it might be, nor if it's still available in later OS versions.
I don't know how I came to write that I had always had it at the top of the screen. At the top of the screen I have the menus of the windows. The dock I have always had at the bottom. Sorry everyone.
However, I have a problem with my Phillips screen. If I put the dock at the bottom, a part of it is hidden. Can anyone suggest how I can move it up just a little. At the moment I have it on the right. I guess I need to find a way to adjust the size of the picture, to make it marginally smaller. As I say, it's a Phillips TV I am using.
