American planning to use Apple Card abroad

I have never traveled to Europe before and want to use my Apple card once I get to Scotland and London. As a novice traveler, should I contact Apple Card (Goldman Sachs?) and alert them that I plan to use the card internationally on the dates of this trip since I don't want the card flagged as suspected fraud-- or is that unnecessary?

Hi, I’ve traveled to Europe multiple times in the last few years and have had no issues with using my Apple Card occasionally. What I do is upon arrival at my destination I buy a water or snack at an airport gift shop. This alerts their algorithm that I’m no longer home and traveling.

If you do get a decline, you’ll receive a text message asking if you just tried to make a payment. Reply yes to the text and wait a minute or two and attempt the transaction again. I’ve never had it happen overseas, but several times in the US I’ve been declined because of the potential fraud risk.

Safe travels!

That is generally unnecessary.

The Apple Card will work through your iPhone in stores that support Apple Pay and the physical card will work on most stores that support Master Card directly.

If you are asked for a PIN number you can try entering 0000.
