Mac Studio: Activeringsslot: eigendomsbewijs & e-mailadres

Mac Studio: Activation Lock: Proof of ownership & email address I have submitted a request for the removal of the activation lock through Apple's customer service. request has not been denied, but Apple indicates that it cannot be processed because, according to them, the following information is missing: • The required declaration of ownership and authority is missing or incomplete. • The request cannot be validated as business, as it was not submitted from a business email address. I assume that by the required declaration of ownership, Apple means the purchase invoice. However, the Mac Studio in question was purchased directly through the official Apple webshop. No serial number is stated on the invoice. I therefore wonder how I can prove ownership differently, since Apple itself has been the selling party. In addition, Apple indicates that the request was not submitted from a business email address. However, the business email address with which the order was placed at the time is not linked to an iCloud account. For that reason, I created a separate iCloud account at the time. That iCloud email address is also a business email address. Can you advise me on the best steps I can take to comply with Apple's requirements and have Activation Lock removed?

Apple has very strict requirements for validating the user actually owns the locked device or the user is an employee of the organization which owns the device AND the employee is authorized to contact Apple for unlocking the device. After all it is a security feature & issue.

It really helps if the device is currently enrolled in the company's MDM and Apple Business Manager systems.

As @John Galt mentions, you must deal with Apple support in order to resolve the issue or that locked device will remain a brick. You can try going to your local Apple Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider for assistance. Perhaps it will make things easier to understand when communicating with an Apple representative in person as the Apple agent will better be able to discern any confusion between two of you. Sometimes I go round & round with Apple's online support because neither of us are able to get our points across to one another. Plus an in person conversation is a little harder to brush aside than an anonymous & impersonal online chat where there may be language barriers.

You need to make sure to ask the Apple agent exactly what you need to provide them and how you can go about getting a copy of any purchase receipts. I know businesses don't make it easy to track & recover purchase receipts as I've had to really dig to find some of my organization's purchase receipts over the years.....I'm far removed from such things in my organization.

If you get no satisfaction, then you can contact Apple corporate & let them know your displeasure with the situation. After all Apple doesn't really tell users to keep their purchase receipts for the life of the device just in case the device may need Apple's assistance to unlock it. I know sometimes Apple and Apple's authorized retailers & AASPs don't always provide service & receipts like Apple corporate may expect. We had a local AASP that we had to deal with for certain things and the staff accepting devices for service were less than forthcoming & definitely did not provide information or services as expected.

Good luck.

Mac Studio: Activation Lock: Proof of ownership & email address

I have submitted a request for the removal of the activation lock through Apple's customer service. request has not been denied, but Apple indicates that it cannot be processed because, according to them, the following information is missing:

  • The required declaration of ownership and authority is missing or incomplete.

From what you describe you did everything correctly, but this site is strictly a user-to-user support community. As such none of its participants will be able to assist you in removing Activation Lock, other than to suggest contacting Apple directly using the Support link on these pages. Explain your dilemma to them so that they can recommend specific action.

When purchased directly through Apple's (US) website, all of my Apple Invoice Receipt emails for hardware purchases contain their serial number, if they have one, but I understand that for whatever reason your invoices do not contain that information. For that I have no explanation other than to suggest Apple's website and purchasing methods are certain to be different in different countries.
