What is the nature of that damage you show in your snapshot?
If the screen is scratched but everything functions well, then I would follow Bob's advice about not paying to repair a 6-year old laptop. That type of scratch is cosmetic.
If the functionality of the computer is degraded due to the scratch, then certainly you should get a diagnosis and cost estimate. But keep in mind that a screen replacement often runs $500-$1000 and you can buy a brand new MacBook Air for $1300 and a brand new Mac Mini for $800. A 6-year old laptop might not have a very long expected lifetime remaining.
Following up on BobTheFisherman’s response, as explained here, your Mac is about to achieve “vintage” status.

I would not spend any money repairing a six year old computer.
