Genius Bar phone battery replacement: Same-day collection?

I replaced an iPhone 14 battery just two weeks ago at a very well-run Apple Store.

Timeline:

2:30 PM — Arrived early for 3:00 PM appointment. Greeter had me scan a QR code to initiate an on-phone diagnostic and directed me to the appropriate table.

3:00 PM — “My Genius” arrived as-scheduled; re-verified all the appointment details, had me place phone in “Maintenance Mode”, and sign a couple of forms.

3:15 PM — Genius took my phone, giving me a barcoded “claim check” which citied a “ready to pickup” time of 5:30 PM.

While departing, Greeter mentioned it would most likely be “safe” to return as early as 5:00 PM to pickup the phone.

5:15 PM — Retuned to store. Phone was indeed ready.

5:25 PM — Phone “checkout” complete.

This was probably the 5th or 6th time I’ve replaced an iPhone battery at an Apple Store, and they’ve ALL been executed pretty much as just described.

It would be wise to check with the Genius Bar before you take the phone in, to make sure that they have the battery that you need in stock.

If the shop does not have the battery that you need, it will take another 2-3 days before the shop receives the battery.

Depending on how busy the techs are at the time, it might take anywhere from an hour to the end of the day before the installation will be done.

It depends on whether the store has the battery in stock at the time of your appointment. That's not something anyone on this user to user only forum could know or answer. But if the battery is in stock at your appointment time, replacement is usually done on the same day.

Well let’s put it this way. They’re not going to drop whatever other customers they are serving and focus on your needs. As has been pointed lack of parts could delay things, other service work being performed on other customer's devices could delay things.

Is your ability to pickup the iPhone in a few hours a major factor? For example, is your plane leaving at 5 PM and you’d like to make an appointment at noon and still make your flight or exactly what’s the situation?

We are a 1h-45m drive (each way) from three different Apple Stores in three different states.

We too prefer “same day” service allowing for a good meal during the wait.
