Hi. So I opened the lid, and it appeared like that. I have no clue why. I restarted it by holding the power button, and back to normal like nothing happened. Did I open it wrong?? What caused it to do that? Is this a sign the screen will give up soon? Thank you.

I see the Bezel at the bottom left of the Display is cracked & has some clear tape covering it & holding it together. Most likely the impact there damaged one of the very thin fragile cables located beneath the break. Your laptop will require a hardware repair to replace the damaged Display Assembly.
If this is an Intel model laptop, then I don't recommend spending any money on repairs for multiple reasons. The money spent on repairs is better put towards a new laptop. If this is an Apple Silicon Mac, then it may still be worthwhile to have it repaired.
I see the Bezel at the bottom left of the Display is cracked & has some clear tape covering it & holding it together. Most likely the impact there damaged one of the very thin fragile cables located beneath the break. Your laptop will require a hardware repair to replace the damaged Display Assembly.

About a Mac Screen with Distorted Lines:
I came across this way back when on my 2017 Mac. The connector between the LogicBoard and the screen was loose, and I had to send it in for service 11 times. Being during COVID, I had to send this in. Today, the option to take this in for service is an option. So take this in for service, ASAP.
I. Mirror the Screen:
Using an adapter (i.e. USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter) Connect an external screen, and mirror it back holding down command, then pressing F1. See if this shows. If so, it is an issue within the macOS. If not, then it is a hardware issue, and you need to get this serviced...
II. How to Get this Mac Serviced...
Contact Apple, and setup a Genius Bar Appointment or see an AASP (Apple Authorized Service Provider) in your local area.

I have alerted Apple to this issue. Be careful submitting posts if you get an error, there is a good chance the post was actually submitted anyway.

Yes indeed. But that crack has been there for more than a year and this issue never happend to me before. I plan to get a new one when support drops for it.
