Magic Keyboard Folio not holding iPad Pro 12.9-inch

I recently purchased a new Magic Keyboard folio for my iPad. The iPad “attached” to it magnetically but I noticed I ordered the wrong one because the hole on the folio was too small for my iPad camera. My iPad is an iPad Pro 12.9in 4th generation. I ordered the correct size folio but when I tried to attach my iPad to it, it won’t hold it. It just slides down. Is this a bad folio?

The Magic Keyboard for iPad and Magic Keyboard Folio are designed for specific iPad models. These are reliant upon magnets for attachment of the iPad - the magnets being arranged in very specific positions that are unique to each iPad model - the iPad itself having a corresponding arrangement and positioning of matching magnets.

While the current 13" Magic Keyboard and Magic Keyboard Folio are very similar in size to the 12.9" model, they are sufficiently different as to be incompatible with your iPad Pro 12.9".

Apple generally only sells accessories for current and sometimes immediately prior device models. The 12.9" iPad Pro is sufficiently old that official Apple Stores will not stock model-specific accessories for your iPad. That said, you might find older stock at an Apple Authorised Retailer - or a third-party retailer (e.g. Amazon) while stocks last.

The newer Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro are for the 13" iPad Pro. It won't fit for your iPad Pro 12.9" 4th generation. Try to return it and get reimbursed.

It is quite difficult to find a brand new Magic Keyboard for your iPad. Apple no longer sells them and the major retailers don't seem to have them. A pre-owned one could be an option, though.
