Color-accurate portable display for Mac mini

I am a dinnerware designer who works from home. My current setup is a mac mini M4 Pro and a 27" Apple Studio display. I have to travel from the west coast to the east coast (upstate NY) for a couple of weeks to take care of a sick relative and I also need to work while there.

Obviously there are a lot of portable monitors out there, but my job is dependent on color accuracy and clarity of detail so most of them aren't going to cut it I don't think. My company has provided my studio display, so I don't own it and am not comfortable transporting it even though I do have the original packaging I received it in. The mini is easy enough to travel with, so not worried about that.

Just wanted to crowd source any ideas or recommendations that I may not have considered as a portable setup? I do also own a 10th gen ipad, not sure if that even enters into the equation. Most of the work I am doing is in Photoshop, Illustrator and some Dimension. My saved work is cloud based. Thanks!

You can use an iPad as an extra display for a Mac, but not as the only display for a Mac.

Playing around on the ASUS site, by applying Portable and ProArt filters, I found three portable monitors that had IPS panels and 100% coverage of narrow gamut (sRGB). One was a 4K monitor with pen input. Another claimed to be a "Full HD" monitor but was only 550 pixels tall. The third was:

ASUS ProArt Display PA148CTV Portable Professional Monitor - 14-inch, IPS, Full HD (1920 x 1080), 100% sRGB, 100% Rec.709, Color Accuracy ΔE < 2, Calman Verified, USB-C, 10-point Touch

As far as I could tell, none of the portable ASUS ProArt monitors were said to have good coverage of wide gamut - either DCI-P3 or Adobe RGB.

UPERFECT offer many different portable monitor options - up to and including 4K, OLED and miniLED variants.

While portable monitors are perhaps unlikely to replicate the colour-accuracy of your 27" Apple Studio display, you should find something amongst their available range that will meet your portability/size/resolution needs.

I have an Asus zen screen to use with my MacBook, but that is really a portable display. I can put it in my backpack

Thanks. I assume when you say ‘it’s just a portable display” you’re not relying on it to be anything more than an extra screen? I need this to be an only screen situation. It’s a temporary situation for me, but am still trying to find a solution.

Thank you for your thoughtful response. I did try to consider the iPad, but it’s more complicated as an only display. I am considering a couple of portable P3 color OLED displays. They’re a bit more than I was hoping to spend, but I may need to bite the bullet. Thanks again.

Thanks! I am looking a 1 or 2 from them. Just need one to get me by as best as possible for a couple of weeks until I can get back to my Apple display to verify colors, etc.

Thanks. Yes that’s what I want, but it’s going to be an only display, it a second display so I need something a bit better than your baseline portable monitor for the design work I do. Appreciate the response.
