WhatsApp is owned by Meta and not an Apple product. On average, Meta updates WhatsApp (actually all their apps) multiple times each week. They fix something a previous update broke, only to introduce some new issues. But the app is not owned, nor controlled by Apple. Make sure you have the very lates version of WhatsApp on your phone which is currently 26.28.75 and was just updated one day ago.

If you have the most current version and the behavior is the same, contact WhatsApp support for help with application.

If your WhatsApp Status video plays without sound (muted):

1. Check if the Status was uploaded without audio
   1. Open the Status.
   2. Tap the speaker icon (if one appears). If it is muted, tap it to unmute.
   3. If there is no sound at all, ask the sender if the original video contained audio.
2. Check your iPhone volume
   1. Press the Volume Up button while the Status is playing.
   2. Make sure the volume is not at zero.
3. Turn off Silent Mode (if applicable)
   1. On iPhones with a Ring/Silent switch, ensure the phone is not in Silent mode.
   2. On newer iPhones with the Action Button, make sure it isn't set to Silent mode.

Install the latest version of WhatsApp from the App Store, as bugs affecting Status playback are occasionally fixed in updates.
