MacBook Pro and External Monitor

I just purchased a MacBook Pro 14" and a LG 27" external monitor. The monitor is not displaying correctly. A puke-pinkish background is added to all windows dragged from the laptop to the monitor. Words are blurry; it's like I'm using my Mac Plus from 1985. Is this fixable? Is the LG monitor compatible with the MacBook? If the LG monitor is not compatible, what monitor is that will not break the bank?

I suspect you need a better cable...

The newest macOS are increasingly fussy over sub-par cables for connecting external displays.

Recommended high quality cables: certified Ultra HDMI or Premium ≤ 1.0 m length

or

USB-C Thunderbolt5 cables ≤ 0.5 m length cables rated for high speed data, with certified Thunderbolt logo on each end.

Artifacts that follow a smaller portion of the display such as a window (as opposed to ones that are shown fully edge to edge on the display) are far more likely to be software related.

Those kinds are unlikely to be caused solely by display or cable issues.

Re: blurry text:

To be able to set resolutions separately, be sure you are NOT using "mirror displays" but rather that each display is an extended desktop display.

Once you are certain display are extending rather than mirroring, set the resolution to the display's maximum resolution, then modifiy your view of TEXT with Scaling settings:
