Yes, it's a problem that I had on many occasions back when I was moving my presentations from ppt to keynote. The animated gifs already in the ppt import as static graphics. In some cases I was able to locate the original animated gifs to insert in the new keynote presentations, although they would often lose their transparency (apparently keynote handles the alpha channel differently than ppt).
One of our EVP's is trying to import a PowerPoint presentation into Keynote. Everything looks good, except for an animated GIF that does not animate when the slideshow is played. Is this a limitation of importing PowerPoint to Keynote? Are there workarounds? Thanks.

Thanks for the reply.
Guess that's one limitation.

Select the animated GIF, then open the "Quicktime Inspector". Set the attributes you would like for the animated GIF (loop, start on click, etc.) there.
One downside is that transparency in animated GIFs is disregarded, but the can play with various settings during your show.
