Can't access combo drive or see it in Finder or on the desktop

I have a Mac Studio running Tahoe 26.5.2 and an Apple combo drive connected directly to a USB2 port in the back of the machine. When I plug it in, I hear it get power. I cannot get the device to show in finder (I've checked all the boxes in settings) I cannot "Allow accessories to connect" in System Settings because that options does not appear. It is listed in System Information. Any thoughts?

The empty drive does not get seen by Finder.

You must insert a disc for Finder to take any notice of the drive and the volume on the disc.

Try inserting a CD or DVD.

Open the Disk Utility App from the Applications folder in Finder and see if the super Drive shows up there, if it does you may be able to eject the disc by selecting the drive on the side panel and then clicking on the eject button at the top right corner.

If that still does not work, open the terminal App and type in

/usr/bin/drutil eject

If it does not eject anything, try restarting the Mac, and hold down the mouse left button or press the track pad if you are using one while the Mac is booting up. It should force any disc inside the drive to eject.

If nothing get's ejected, then the drive has possibly failed.
