How much is my Mac Studio M3 Ultra and Studio Display worth?

Selling my Mac Studio

I am wondering how much I could get for my Mac Studio M3 Ultra with an 8TB hard drive, 28 core CPU, 96 GB RAM, keyboard, magic mouse and a studio display that I purchased in May 2025?

Thanks.

Hi,

You can realistically expect to get between $5,600 and $7,100 for your complete Mac Studio and Studio Display setup if sold as a bundle in today's secondary market.

Because this is a highly specialized, top-tier workstation, your final payout depends heavily on how you choose to sell it.

Estimated Resale Breakdown by Component

High-end custom upgrades (like an 8TB SSD) suffer from faster depreciation than base models because the buyer pool for maximum storage is smaller.

  • Mac Studio (M3 Ultra, 28-Core CPU, 96GB RAM, 8TB SSD): $4,500 – $5,600. While a baseline M3 Ultra (1TB) trends around $4,000 on peer-to-peer sites like eBay or similar services, your massive 8TB storage upgrade adds roughly $500–$1,500 in retained value over a base model.
  • Apple Studio Display: $1,000 – $1,300. Standard tilt-adjustable variants actively fetch around $1,200 on used marketplaces, whereas Apple sells official refurbished units for roughly $1,229.
  • Magic Keyboard & Magic Mouse: $100 – $150. These add a minor sweetener to the bundle but hold minimal standalone resale weight.

You can expect to sell your complete Mac Studio and Studio Display bundle for roughly $5,200 to $6,100 on the private marketplace. If you prefer a quick, hassle-free sale through a corporate trade-in platform, you will likely be offered between $3,600 and $4,300 for the package.

Because this is a highly specialized, top-tier workstation, its resale dynamics depend heavily on how and where you list it.

Estimated Valuation Breakdown

Your original retail purchase price in May 2025 was approximately $6,799 for the Mac Studio alone (due to the massive $2,400 Apple upgrade tax for the 8TB SSD), plus $1,599 for the Apple Studio Display, and $250 for the Magic Keyboard and Magic Mouse—bringing your total original investment to roughly $8,650.

High-end, custom-configured Apple Silicon Macs experience steeper initial depreciation than base models because the target audience for massive storage and RAM is relatively small.

But overall its better to use apple trade in --> (Apple Trade In - Apple)

That depends on where you are trying to offload it.

If you are trying to trade it in with Apple see the following website to get an estimated value.

click here ➜ Apple Trade In - Apple

Do note, Apple does not at this time take trade-ins for displays.

Beyond that, search for completed sales on places like eBay or the like for Mac Studios with similar specs to yours and Studio Displays.

The OP should note that many users here have reported stark differences between Apple's estimate of trade-in value and the actual trade-in price offered when they saw the kit.
