Image Capture 6.8, 2010 Mac Pro, iPhone 13 Pro photos?

No, Image Capture version 6.8 on OS X 10.11 (El Capitan) will not be able to download photos from an iPhone 13 Pro updated to recent versions of iOS. Due to driver and protocol incompatibilities, in fact, OS X 10.11 is a 2015 operating system and lacks the software support packages and updated USB drivers required to communicate and establish a "trust" connection with modern versions of iOS.

Most likely, the iPhone 13 Pro will not be correctly detected by the Image Capture application or by iTunes on such an outdated operating system.

Do you have a comment about the "Sierra v10.12.6" that the original poster is running?

Thanks for pointing that out! I based my initial answer on the OS X 10.11 tag shown under the original post. Even with macOS Sierra (v10.12.6) and a 2010 Mac Pro, jumping all the way to iOS 26.5.2 still creates a massive compatibility gap regarding USB trust drivers and device recognition protocols, so the core issue of potential failure with Image Capture remains.

I don't, but like Old Toad, I don't see why it won't.

If you use Optimize Storage on your phone, then Image Capture won't help with the pictures that keep much of their data at iCloud--but then, I'm guessing that you're not using iCloud Photos.

Osage Ca[tire 6/8 was omc;ided om Soerra. 10.12. It may not run on El Capitan.

Did you try IC 6.7?

I don't see why it wouldnt.

Maybe someone who has the same configuration that you do will come along and either confirm or deny the compatability. Apple takes great pains in making their devices compatible with one another.

I don't think this is especially about greed. Going backwards with files that have been updated would result in major problems in compatibility and security. Also, our memories may be fooled-- in every OS there have been people clamoring to go back to the last system-- the one that they complained about with its introduction. If I were Apple, I wouldn't want the hassle that would cause.

You might just plug the hard drive into the iPhone and use Share>Save to Files.
