iPhone 14 storage full with System Data after restore

Problem with data migration from iPhone 11 to iPhone 14

Hello everyone. 🙂

I am having a problem transferring data from an iPhone 11 to an iPhone 14.

Initially, I tried to use the Quick Start feature, but the connection between the two phones was interrupted several times. Because of that, I created an iCloud backup of my old phone and started setting up the new iPhone by restoring the data from the iCloud backup.

The next morning, I noticed that the storage on the new phone (128 GB) was almost completely full, even though the old iPhone (256 GB) had only about 95 GB of used storage. In theory, all the data should easily fit on the new device.

What is even more confusing is that the system says there are still about 11 GB of data left to download.

The strangest thing is that in Settings → General → iPhone Storage, the new phone shows that System Data is taking up around 95 GB. On the old iPhone, System Data only takes up a few gigabytes.

Has anyone experienced a similar issue? Is this just a temporary problem during the iCloud restore process, and will the storage usage return to normal once the synchronization is complete? Or does it mean that the migration failed and the best solution would be to erase the new iPhone and start the restore process again?

I would really appreciate any advice or suggestions.

Thank you in advance!
