Replacement through Apple Care not eligible for Return???

I received a replacement through Apple Care for my left Airpod Pro 3. I received no email from Apple that the product replaced, only a confirmation from my bank that a charge had gone through. Upon receipt, I opened the replacement but found no instructions or information included. I was unable to get it to charge or connect to my phone. I am attempting to return it and Apple Support is telling me it is not eligible for return as a replacement purchase. The website clearly states: "You have 14 calendar days to return an item from the date you received it. Only items that have been purchased directly from Apple, either online or at an Apple Retail Store, can be returned to Apple. Apple products purchased through other retailers must be returned in accordance with their respective returns and refunds policy. Please ensure that the item you're returning is repackaged with all the cords, adapters and documentation that were included when you received it." This was a purchase for $94.56 through Apple.com. Please help me find a way to return and obtain my money back.
