2019 iMac won't recognise USB number pad keyboard

This topic thread (link below) had a recent successful fix, which I also applied but a month ago I rebooted the iMac and the keyboard won't work at all, only the horrible little Magic one with no numeric or up/down tab.

However when I plugged in a USB mouse to the keyboard port, it works but not the keyboard.

The fact that your mouse works when plugged into the keyboard's side port means the USB passthrough hub is active, but the computer is failing to recognize the keyboard's internal controller data

Does the keyboard work when connected to other USB sockets on this Mac/

Does this keyboard work on other computers?

If trying to use a USB extension, does the keyboard work without it?

Doesnt work with or without the extension.

Seems most likely the keyboard has failed, then. It happens.

If you’re inclined to try, most Apple keyboards aren't particularly easy to repair.

Usually easier to scrounge a new or used replacement.
