iPhone 16 Pro battery health 90% in <1 year, 372 cycles?

Hello,

I would like to ask if my battery health is normal or if there may be an issue with my iPhone. I bought my iPhone 16 Pro in September 2025, so it is less than one year old. My battery health is already 90%, with 372 charge cycles. For the past few months, I have noticed that the battery drains much faster than before, and the phone often becomes quite warm during normal use. Because the battery no longer lasts as long as it used to, I have to charge my phone more frequently. I believe this is the main reason why my charge cycle count has become so high. I use only the original Apple charger and cable, and I try to take good care of the battery: I usually start charging when the battery reaches around 20–21%. I never let it discharge completely. I use the 80% or 95% charge limit, so I rarely charge it to 100%. I also visited an Apple Authorized Service Provider (iSpot). They ran diagnostics on my phone and checked whether any apps were causing excessive battery drain. Everything looked normal, and there were no apps using an abnormal amount of battery. However, they also told me that they would replace the battery under warranty. This is what confuses me. If the phone is less than one year old, the diagnostics show no issues, and I have taken good care of the battery, why does it already need a battery replacement? Has anyone experienced something similar with the iPhone 16 Pro? Is 90% battery health after less than one year and 372 charge cycles considered normal, or could there be another underlying issue? Thank you in advance for your advice.

The battery in the iPhone 16 Pro is designed to go up to 1,000 Charge Cycles before the Battery Health reaches 80%.

That works out to a 1% decline for every 50 Charge Cycles. Months don't really matter much, since every user uses their phone differently. Charge Cycles matter, so that is what you should focus on.

Your battery has completed 372 Charge Cycles, so 372 divided by 50 = 7.44%. Call it 7.5% to keep things simple.

100% minus 7.5% = 92.5%. So, if the battery is operating normally, it would be at about 92-93% Battery Health at this time. Your battery is at 90% now, so it is falling somewhat short performance wise.

It might be something as simple as a defective battery, which the shop may have noticed in their diagnostic checks.

If the Apple service shop will replace the battery at no charge, you should jump on that offer as quickly as possible.....and offer to buy them lunch as well......since Apple service shops will not normally replace a battery at no charge until it has dropped below 80% in the first year of operation.

In fact, the service shops will usually not replace a battery unless it has fallen below 80%....even if you are willing to pay.
