By default, Apple Mail is configured to "Mark as blocked mail, but leave it in my Inbox" while only displaying a warning icon. To stop blocked emails from showing up in your inbox, you must change your Mail settings to automatically move them to the trash or bin.

Change Blocked Mail Settings

  • On Mac: Open Mail, choose Mail > Settings (or Preferences), click Viewing, select Enable blocked mail filtering, and change the drop-down action to Move it to the Trash (or Bin).
  • On iPhone/iPad: Open Settings, tap Mail, select Blocked Sender Options, and choose Move to Trash instead of leaving it in the inbox.
  • changes made on one device may take time to sync across your iCloud, Gmail, or Exchange mail servers.
