M3 iPad Pro 13" (iPadOS 26.5.2) receiving Messages & FaceTime notifications minutes late, all other devices okay

I'm hoping someone has some ideas before I spend more time with Apple Support.

I have a 6-month-old M3 iPad Pro 13-inch running iPadOS 26.5.2. This issue only started about a week ago.

Messages and FaceTime notifications are either significantly delayed (sometimes by several minutes) or don't appear at all on the iPad. My Mac mini, iPhone, and Apple Watch all receive Messages/FaceTime calls instantly, so the problem appears to be isolated to the iPad.

Here's everything I've already tried:

  • Confirmed there is no VPN installed or enabled.
  • Reset Network Settings.
  • Signed out of iCloud-related services and signed back in.
  • Tested on multiple Wi-Fi networks.
  • Tested using my iPhone's hotspot.
  • Manually synced Messages (this will make all messages sync).
  • Completely erased the iPad and set it up as a new device.
  • Verified internet at more than one connection and speeds are normal.

The issue persists after all of the above.

I also contacted Apple Support. After about 30 minutes of diagnostics, they recommended restarting the iPad and contacting them again if the problem continued. Unfortunately, the restart made no difference, and I'd prefer to avoid repeating another lengthy troubleshooting session if this is already a known software issue.

The iPad has had light use, spends most of its time sitting on a desk, has never been damaged, and is still under warranty.

Has anyone else with an M3 iPad running iPadOS 26.5.2 experienced delayed Messages or FaceTime notifications? I'm mainly trying to determine whether this is a known iPadOS bug or if it sounds like an issue specific to my device that warrants warranty service.

Begin with updating your iPad to the current version of iPadOS - at the time of writing, this being iPadOS 26.6 - then re-assess.

If issues with Messages and FaceTime notifications persist, or the iPad is not operating as expected, try a forced-restart - as this will often clear an isolated software issue:

Force restart iPad (models with Face ID or with Touch ID in the top button)

If your iPad doesn’t have the Home button, do the following:

  1. Press and quickly release the volume button nearest to the top button.
  2. Press and quickly release the volume button farthest from the top button.
  3. Press and hold the top button.
  4. When the Apple logo appears, release the top button.

If the problem persists after performing the restart, it may be necessary to reset your iPad settings. While this reset will not cause any loss of data, as a precaution, it is always wise to ensure that you have a current iCloud or iTunes backup before performing the reset:

When you are happy to proceed, you can perform the reset from iPad settings:

Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPad > Reset > Reset All Settings

If the problem still doesn’t clear, the next step is to reset the iPad to factory settings:

Otherwise, you would be best advised to seek assistance directly from Apple Support. You can contact the Support Team using the Support link at top-right or bottom-left of this page. Alternatively you can initiate and manage your support cases using the excellent Apple Support App. If not already installed on your iPad, the App can be downloaded from the App Store:
