Office 365 not working on MacOS 12

I use Office 365 and an older Mac. In June I received an email from Microsoft informing me that I had to update to OS 12 at least for Office 365 to keep working. I did that. But as soon as MS updated my O365 stopped working. I have now spent hours with MS support and they say that in fact it does not work on OS 12. Then they say it's an Apple problem (not sure how that could be the case). But wondering if anyone with OS 12 has O365 working and if so what did you do?

Thanks.

Best to ask Microsoft questions in a Microsoft forum: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/category/microsoft365

This probably isn’t supported.

Microsoft usually wants one of the three most recent platform versions for support. Or current and two previous versions, as sometimes phrased. That’s macOS 14, 15, and 26, lately.

Interestingly, Microsoft doesn’t list Apple silicon as being supported for home use. But you’re probably using Intel, so not relevant.

I replaced my use of Microsoft Office with Pages, Numbers, Keynote, and — where I need specific tooling — LibreOffice and Scrivener. And vim. Haven’t looked back. (The first four can read and write most Office documents.)

Current LibreOffice supports macOS 11 and later.

Getting the Apple apps can be a little more involved (also) due to the older macOS, if you’ve not previously downloaded those.

Thanks. Does LibreOffice have the same mail merge capabilities. I have tons of processes that take me about 3 minutes because I have Word Docs and Excel files ready to go with mail merge. Mailing labels, end of year donor reports, etc.

Same capabilities? Donno. LibreOffice does have mail merge, though: https://books.libreoffice.org/en/WG71/WG7114-MailMerge.html

Pages has mail merge, too: https://appleinsider.com/inside/iwork/tips/how-to-use-the-new-mail-merge-in-pages

neovim has mail merge, as well: https://github.com/martineausimon/nvim-mail-merge

Alas, Scrivener unsurprisingly does not support mail merge.

I’d also be looking for a customer contact app, more generally. Churches, for instance, can have similar apps tailored for their needs.
