MacBook Air M4 power adapter not working after wash

Hi everyone,

I accidentally ran my MacBook Air M4 power adapter through the wash. I made sure to let it dry out completely before trying it, but after plugging it into the wall outlet, the charging indicator light doesn't come on at all and my MacBook isn't receiving any power.

I know it was a silly mistake, but I wanted to ask:

  • Are there any troubleshooting steps or reset procedures for a water-damaged power adapter?
  • Is there any way to bring this brick back to life, or is it completely fried internally?

Device Details: MacBook Air M4 (Power Adapter)

Thanks in advance for any advice!

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 26.6

Further to the sage comments made by Katana-San - you should never (ever) connect any electronic or electrical device that has (or is suspected of having) been submerged in water, or is water damaged, to AC-mains. To do so risks damage to any connected devices - or worse, an electric shock to you that could be fatal.

Your water damaged Power Adapter should not be connected to AC Power under any circumstances. It should be discarded and replaced. Similarly, AC power cables that have been immersed in water should also be discarded/replaced.
