Logic 12.3: MIDI tracks erased, metronome click issues

logic 12.3 keeps erasing previously recorded MIDI tracks when ever I add a new midi sound in the DAW. And for some reason when I start up the DAW my metronome click doesn't come on unless I restart my interface.... I have never had any issues like this with Logic in over 15 years.
