iPhone 14 update via Finder failed, in restore state

Unkown error while updating iPhone 14 to iOS 26.6 from FInder (Mac- IOS 26.6)

I get repeteadly an unkown error when tryiing to update from 26.3 to 26.6 (I can no longer update from within iPhone due to system hogging my storage (no space left). Iphone left in restore state (almost bricked). Fortunately, knowing Apple SW is increasingly more buggy each realease, I made a backup before trying the upgrade.

What to do next. Again restoring to factory defaults? and erasing my biometrics, my wallet and bank apps login details....and more settings? This is exhausting...
