MacBook Air stuck on startup logo and audio after update

When I hit the start button on my MacBook Air the startup audio and the logo comes up and remains there. This is after I updated my Mac to the latest version yesterday. How do I force reboot or start the recovery process

I reinstalled Sonoma and able to login
