Magic Mouse secondary click re-selects single cells in Excel

The secondary click (set as right click) on my magic mouse is re-selecting single cells in excel instead of capturing the larger selection of cells I want to reference, copy/paste, etc. It does still show the secondary click options like copy paste, but only for a single cell it's hovering over.

I tried toggling the secondary click function with no success in changing the result, the control+click does successfully "right click" the group of cells instead of re-selecting one with the right click function, and Word does not have this issue (meaning I can select multiple words and the secondary click function maintains that selection).

Co-pilot and Google have suggested the same fixes which are not working. Any thoughts?
